A USB flash drive is a small removable file storage device which connects to a computer by the USB2.0 port. Files can be written to and deleted from the flash drive and as it is very small can be transported around in a pocket or on a keyring making it very useful for presentations etc.. Flash drives are much more economical than old floppy discs and even cd-roms. Unlike the CD or floppy disc the flash drive contains a small printed circuit board, this is protected by a plastic case and makes it very robust for carrying around.
